Maryland Athletics’ GenAI Data Governance is a quick, go-to and practical guide to help you use AI tools safely and confidently with UMD data. It organizes information into four data levels (from Level 1: public to Level 4: restricted - no GenAI) so you can quickly decide what’s safe to share, what should stay internal, and what requires approval. The sheet also includes clear do’s and don’ts, the UMD Data & AI “Golden Rules” (classify first, minimize what you share, use the right approved tool, verify the output, and avoid bulk exports), plus a simple escalation path to email Athletics IT for a fast data check when you’re unsure.
