Xfinity Center
The Xfinity Center is the flagship arena for Maryland Athletics, and Athletics IT plays a critical role in supporting its diverse operations. Our team provides comprehensive technology support to a wide range of staff within the facility, including administrative units, Strength & Conditioning, the former Sports Science and Sports Psychology areas, and the majority of our men’s and women’s basketball coaches and staff.
The Xfinity Center hosts a high volume of events annually, including all home men’s and women’s basketball games – typically totaling over 30 regular season games combined each year – as well as special events such as University Commencement ceremonies, Maryland high school MPSSAA basketball playoffs, and other major gatherings held in the arena.
Athletics IT is deeply integrated into the delivery of gameday experiences, supporting and managing systems such as:
- The Hall of Fame interactive wall
- Concourse TVs and menu boards
- Grand brick entrance video walls
We collaborate with strategic partners such as FanConnect to bring these immersive experiences to life, enhancing the atmosphere for fans and guests. Additionally, we work closely with Maryland Sports Properties to generate additional revenue for the department by enabling our video walls and digital signage to serve as effective advertising mediums for corporate partners.
To further elevate the premium experience, Athletics IT has upgraded a number of suites within Xfinity Center, incorporating technologies deployed along the concourse. These upgrades include:
- Personal loge tablets for suite guests
- Custom digital L-wrap displays for companies holding property rights in our largest suite
- Enhanced audiovisual capabilities in the Presidential Suite
Pavilion Support
Athletics IT also provides technology support for the Xfinity Center Pavilion, which hosts Maryland Wrestling and Women’s Volleyball events throughout the year. Our team ensures that the Pavilion is equipped with reliable audiovisual systems, network connectivity, and operational technology to deliver a seamless experience for athletes, coaches, staff.
