XR Showcase Event

Hosted by XR Club @ UMD

ICATech had the opportunity to attend the end-of-semester XR Club showcase, where they hosted a series of experiences to choose from. We learned about a handful of the many projects in which their club members are participating.

They also had exhibits to choose from that showcased independent work completed by XR club students. One exhibit was a live coding demonstration that mimics a concert, featuring visual elements that pull textures in a calculated manner and sync them with objects that are in tune with the music. As part of the same exhibit, we demoed a separate project that used live feedback from a laser to mimic an experience digitally on the screen. We then learned about immersive light design and how it is used all over the world, like the Sydney Opera House, as a way to generate additional forms of revenue and provide unique experiences for visitors.

We all appreciate the XR Club for extending the invitation and hope to continue seeing their community grow. You can keep up with their future projects through @umdxrclub on Instagram or through XR Club on TerpLink!
